Policy and Technical Issues Conference II

September 24-25, 2024 / In-Person
Suggested Location: Washington, DC – Hotel TBD

Join CIBO for our second of two in – person conferences this year focused on “Issues Facing the Power House of the 21st Century”.  Following the format we used in May, we will focus on the same topic areas, technical issues as well as regulatory policies.  On the technical side, we are combining the focus on boiler operations (BOMP) and environmental regulatory compliance (IECT), into one meeting.  On the policy/regulatory side, we will continue our focus on clean energy and de-carbonization, including Department of Energy initiatives as well as current major EPA air and water regulations.

Speakers will cover a range of policy and regulatory areas tied into sustainability, resilience and reliability, including permitting and compliance, long term asset management and planning, as well as day-to-day operating challenges at the facility level.  In addition, noting that CIBO has always applied a rigorous lens to the powerhouse (technology, compliance and permitting), we will continue during this session our push into future energy – related needs and challenges, including renewable/alternative energy sources, directed at sustainability and de-carbonization.  The September CIBO Conference and our additional conferences going forward will continue to address these and other key areas:

  • Operations and Maintenance Topics: asset management , boiler maintenance, alternative fuels, distributed generation, GHG projects, and water chemistry and treatment
  • Strategic Policy/Regulatory Topics: climate and energy security strategies, EPA air and water regulations (CSAPR FIP, PFAS, Boiler MACT), and Environmental Justice – cumulative impact state initiatives
